Keystone Night Skiing

15 lit trails, one resort. Keystone is the only place in Summit County where you can ski after dark.

Keystone Resort is the only ski area in Summit County that offers night skiing. With 15 lit trails on Dercum Mountain, you can extend your ski day well into the evening — something you can't do at Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, or Copper Mountain.

What You Get

  • 15 lit trails on Dercum Mountain — a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain.
  • The only night skiing in Summit County. Breckenridge, A-Basin, and Copper all close at the end of the regular day. Keystone keeps going.
  • Lit terrain park. Keystone's A51 terrain park on Dercum Mountain is typically open during night skiing hours for park riders.
  • Same lifts, fewer people. Crowds thin out significantly after the day session ends. Night skiing often means shorter lift lines and more open runs.

Hours & Season

Night skiing at Keystone typically runs from mid-December through early April, though exact dates and hours change each season. Sessions generally begin in the late afternoon and run into the evening.

Check the official schedule: Hours, operating days, and ticket availability are posted on keystoneresort.com each season. Night skiing can be weather-dependent, so check day-of as well.

Tickets & Passes

Night skiing access depends on the type of pass or ticket you have. Epic Pass holders should check their specific pass tier for night skiing inclusion — some tiers include it, others require an add-on. Day tickets with night skiing access are also available for purchase.

Book online for savings. Like day tickets, night skiing tickets are usually cheaper when purchased in advance on the Keystone website rather than at the window.

Who Night Skiing Is For

Great For

  • ✓ Arrival day skiing — fly into Denver, drive up, and still get runs in
  • ✓ Short trips — maximize your mountain time on a 2–3 day visit
  • ✓ Families — quieter slopes, shorter lines, less overwhelming for kids
  • ✓ Beginners — fewer people on the greens and blues
  • ✓ The experience — skiing under lights with mountain views is genuinely different

Know Before You Go

  • ⚠️ It gets cold — temperatures drop fast after sunset at 9,000+ feet
  • ⚠️ Layer up more than you think you need
  • ⚠️ Bring a face covering and hand warmers
  • ⚠️ Goggle lenses matter — yellow or clear lenses for low light, not dark
  • ⚠️ Goggles > sunglasses for warmth and wind protection at night

Night Skiing Tips

  • Wear more layers than you think. Keystone base elevation is 9,280 feet. When the sun drops, temperatures can fall 20–30°F quickly. A mid-layer under your jacket and insulated pants make a huge difference.
  • Eat before you go. Grab dinner at one of the River Run Village restaurants, then hit the slopes. You'll be warmer and have more energy.
  • Stay hydrated. Cold air and altitude dehydrate you faster than you realize. Drink water throughout the day and before your night session.
  • The snow is different. Groomed trails tend to get icier in the evening as temperatures drop. Expect firmer conditions than midday.
  • Stay at River Run. The night skiing trails end at River Run Village — so if you're staying at Silver Mill, you can ski right back to the village and be home in 2 minutes.

The Arrival Day Play

Here's a move that only works at Keystone: fly into Denver in the morning, drive 90 minutes to Keystone, check in, and still ski that evening under the lights. Most resorts, your arrival day is a wash. At Keystone, you can salvage it.

It's also perfect for the last day — ski the night session, then drive back to Denver for a late flight or early morning departure. You get an extra half-day of skiing that other resorts can't offer.
